Building a schedule often means reusing the same shift across days or assigning it to a teammate. Instead of entering it again from scratch, you can copy any shift to another date, another employee, or both. There are two ways to do it.
Two ways to copy a shift
Copy to... opens a dialog where you pick exactly where the shift should go. Best when you're moving a shift to a specific employee and date.
Right-click copy and paste lets you grab a shift and drop it into any empty slot on the schedule. Best when you want to repeat the same shift in a few different spots quickly.
Both methods copy every detail of the original shift, including start and end times, job, break setup, and any notes.
Copy a shift using Copy to...
Use this method when you know exactly which employee and date you want the shift on.
Find the shift you want to copy on the schedule.
Hover over the shift card and click the three-dot icon that appears in the corner.
From the menu, select Copy to.... The Copy shift dialog will open.
Under Copy to employee, the same employee is selected by default. To copy to a different person, click the menu and search for them.
Under Copy to date, the next calendar day is selected by default. You can pick any date, even one outside the week you're currently viewing.
Click Copy shift.
You'll see a confirmation at the bottom of the screen: "Shift copied to [Employee] on [Date]." If the new shift is in a different week, click Go to date in the confirmation to jump straight there.
That's it. The new shift is now on the schedule with all the original details.
Tip: The Copy shift button stays disabled until you've selected both an employee and a date. If it looks greyed out, double-check that both fields have values.
Copy and paste a shift using right-click
This is the faster option when you want to drop the same shift into a few different spots.
Copy the shift
Right-click on the shift you want to copy.
From the menu, select Copy shift. The shift is now saved to your clipboard for this session.
Paste the shift
Right-click on any empty slot on the schedule.
From the menu, select Paste shift. The new shift will appear in that slot with all the original details.
You can paste the same shift as many times as you need to.
Heads up: Your clipboard holds one shift at a time. If you copy a different shift, it replaces what was there before. The clipboard also clears when you sign out or close your browser.
What gets copied
When you copy a shift, the new shift inherits everything from the original:
Start time and end time
Job
Break setup (paid or unpaid, duration, and start time)
Notes
Any other shift attributes
The only things that change are the employee and the date, based on what you picked.
When copying might not work
Copying a shift runs the same checks as creating a new one. If the new shift would break a rule, like an overlapping shift or a scheduling constraint on the employee, you'll see the same error message you'd see when adding a shift manually. The copy won't be created until the issue is resolved.
FAQ
Can I copy a shift to a date in a different week? Yes. The date picker in the Copy shift dialog lets you pick any date, including ones outside the week you're currently viewing.
Can I copy a shift to multiple employees at once? Not in a single step. You can paste the same shift to different employees one at a time using the right-click method, or use Copy to... for each one.
What if I copy a shift and then realize it was a mistake? Open the new shift and remove it the same way you'd remove any other shift. You'll get the standard undo option in the confirmation.
Does clicking a shift still open Edit? Yes. A regular click on a shift card opens the edit screen, same as before. The three-dot menu and right-click are extra options, not replacements.
